Public Lands and Career Exploration (PLACE) Fellowship
The PLACE Fellowship seeks to set students up for success as they start their path to young adulthood.
Our approach to career exploration is person-centered. This means the PLACE Fellows will experience just as much personal development as they do career development. From job shadowing and financial literacy workshops to Harbor Island day trips and poetry at the African Meeting House, the PLACE Fellowship supports meaningful personal transformation on the clock. ($16/hr; 13 hrs/wk)
We are looking for high school students (15 – 18 years old) seeking on-the-job exposure to the National Parks of Boston (NPB). From late January to mid-June, PLACE Fellows will explore the Boston Harbor Islands, Black Heritage Trail, Charlestown Navy Park, and so much more. This PAID opportunity requires no prior work or outdoor experience. Any and all Boston-based high schoolers are encouraged to apply. We especially encourage those with little to no experience.
To ensure Fellows are sufficiently prepared for any outdoor programming, all Fellows will be provided a long-sleeve shirt and sweatshirt. Additional cold weather gear will be covered according to need.
You are eligible if you are...
- 15-18 years old for the duration of the program
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Local to the Boston Metropolitan Area
- Enjoy learning through experience
- Excited by out-of-the-box thinking
- Seeking a career that gives back to your community
How to Apply
The application period has closed, check back next fall 2024!
"This program has helped me realize that I have infinite job opportunities. I can choose and have a job at my age that I enjoy. I shouldn’t settle just because I get money, but work harder to find a job that I’d love - because it’s out there and I deserve it!" - Ariel, 18
